TRANSFORMATIONS
I. Shadows
Ghostly shadows stalk me
Walking on this dusty road
Tainting these dreams I carry
Into a starved man's abode.
Searching for something within me
Worthy of such a lonely world
Holding onto fading memory
A warrior to his rusting sword.
Why can't we find the Way?
Staggering in the searing smoke
How can we find our Way?
On flaming dreams we choke.
Hungry faces crowd around
Look all the same to me
Those faces running madly
To the darkness of a Death Shrowd
Wandering accross this desolate land
Chasing after something more
Time slipping from hand
Bloody sands of a virgin shore.
Where can we find each Other?
Such is the frigid vaccuum
Where is the place of Cover?
Terror rises in me to consume.
II. Death Rites
The dead pretend to be alive
Machinery of empty motions -- survive!
Never understanding why
While they watch Life pass them by.
Tattered dreams flying
Flags of forgotten sinning
The stakes through hearts are driven
Silencing the whitness' pen.
*Hold on to Something*
*Pretend it is more than Nothing*
My head slipping slowly under
Wincing at the cracking Thunder.
Someone says I was truly Something
*Rays of death lancing my Heart*
Someone says I should truly Care
*Breathing such poisoned Air*
Reality implodes without a sound
Earth riding into the Nothing
That Heaven wears as its Crown
All crumbles to dust.
The dead wander amid the Shadows
The living run into the Sun
Could they ever marry
And find the Truth they carry?
III. Funeral Pyre
The waters sink deep
Salty bile filling lungs
Blood from flesh does seep
A warrior -- lost his sword.
Darkness swirls, boiling mercury
Whispered voices carry
Names they call
Echos fading into the Fall
Falling,
Falling,
Falling...
A Master speaks, waves a hand:
"Nothing matters in the End
All things come down to THIS
And NOW is all we ever had."
Expectations topple over,
Castle walls set asundered
Disapointment's terror calls
Lost is the past as I fall.
A casket held gently over
The dismal, sodden ground
Whitnesses gather around
To see a corpse go nova.
A star twinkles--winking
Ignorance's grasp slipping
The skies smiling down
As they put a body into the ground.
IV Rebirth
Sitting on a golden meadow, somewhere.
The Master whispers, a grin
Birds sing, notes float on the wind
Wondering who I was then.
Shadows dropping away
Soft pattering of a warm spring rain
Words as meaningless and fleeting
As sparks leaping from the raging flame.
Dreams come and go
Dust stirred when the winds blow
How shall it be known
When they finally show?
On a road there was a Master
Who looked as I
With a gait O-so spry
Welcoming tommorrow, victory for disaster.
He was I and I was him
As we walked the road together
Such is the Road into the Unknown
Step after step,
after step,
after step...
We do what we do
To get where we are
What matters is
Is where to go from here.
